ABOUT ME

I’m a junior ORFE major from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and I’m running for USG President to have my ear to the ground for you no matter where you are. Over the past year and a half, I served as a U-Councilor then as U-Council Chair. I worked on projects like making it easier to apply for emergency funding, expanding therapy options at CPS during COVID, and advocating for students living on campus in the Spring through CPUC. USG enacts positive change by starting the right conversations with the right people, and I’m ready to do that from Day 1 as President.

On mental health:

  • I worked with the Mental Health Task Force and Letters to Strangers to create a comprehensive guidebook of Princeton’s mental health resources.

  • After leaving campus this year, I worked with my task force to successfully advocate for expanded remote therapy options at CPS (such as the use of text chat for group sessions and virtual ‘walk-in’ hours).

  • I worked with Chitra Parikh (President) and Dr. Calvin Chin (CPS Director) to create a Q&A form for CPS policies.

  • Chitra Parikh and I successfully advocated for a centralized website for emergency funding requests, now released by the Office of the Vice President of Campus Life.

On academics:

  • I serve on the Committee on Course of Study (COCS) and the USG Academics Committee, advocating on issues like best practices for remote learning and pushing for departments to make their semester grading policies public.

  • In 2019, I served on the Working Group on Internships and the Undergraduate Curriculum, which proposed the curricular policy that now allows international students to use Curricular Practical Training (CPT) work authorization for internships.

On COVID response:

  • This Spring, I collaborated with USG members to survey the student body about academics and student life during Spring and Fall 2020 and presented results to key administrators.

  • I worked with USG members to host Fall 2020 focus groups over the summer, which provided input on remote learning and virtual programming to administrators.

On engaging with administrators:

  • I worked with U-Council to bring students’ concerns about academics and life on campus to CPUC in the Spring and to publish meeting notes from every CPUC meeting.

  • I am currently working with USG’s CPUC Executive Committee representatives to make sure that activists’ concerns are addressed in CPUC meetings and to make the format of CPUC meetings more interactive.

I’m also involved with conversations about equity on campus and supporting students virtually through the Friends of FLI, Virtual Community Building, and Menstrual Products Task Forces.

  • Right now, I am working with the Friends of FLI Task Force on creating a guide on insurance plans and finding lowest-cost providers through the Student Health Plan (SHP) and with SHP to notify students of changes to insurance benefits during COVID.
